Social Day 2013

On Saturday 20 April 2013 almost 1,300 students from the provinces of Treviso and Padua participated in the 7th edition of the Social Day, involving citizens in solidarity initiatives and raising funds of around 8,000 EUR. A total of more than 6,000 children and more than 60 schools, a hundred voluntary associations and third sector organizations, more than 30 municipalities, more than 1,000 traders and small entrepreneurs and hundreds of individuals, organizations and parents who accompanied and hosted the children to work in their vegetable gardens, parks, squares, garages, homes. For a total fundraising of more than 50,000 euros. The funds raised by the young people from Treviso and Padua on Saturday 20 April were divided as follows:

  • 10%, equal to 785 euros, was allocated to support a project common to all the realities that carry out the Social Day in Italy: “Cooperativa Libera Terra – Pio la Torre” of the Associazione Libera-Associazione, names and numbers against mafias;
  • 45%, equal to 3,510 euros, financed the project “Forced recruitment: ya enough!” Of the Creciendo Unidos Foundation of Cucuta (partner of NATs for… Onlus) for the progressive reduction of the phenomenon of forced recruitment of minors in the Colombian armed conflict;
  • The remaining 45%, equal to 3,510 euros, was donated to support the project  “Against child labor in the Dakar landfill” , by the Senegalese Association Intermondes (partner of Fratelli dell’Uomo Onlus) to prevent child labor in the landfill of Dakar (Senegal).
