Social Day 2014
8,034 young people participating throughout Italy (Treviso, Padua, Piacenza, Milan, Vicenza), more than 1,000 firms and companies, more than 500 organizations, associations and families offering work involved, for the record amount of € 62,935, entirely destined to the financing of seven different national and international solidarity projects.
Social Day 2014 was held on 5 April with the participation of 1,400 young people between Padua and Treviso. The funds raised from the Social Day equal to 9,364.79 euros were allocated as follows:
- 10%, in support of a project common to all the realities that carry out the Social Day in Italy: “Cooperativa Libera Terra – Pio la Torre” of the Associazione Libera-Associazione, names and numbers against mafias;
- 45%, to the financing of the project “Forced recruitment: ya enough!” Of the Creciendo Unidos Foundation of Cucuta (partner of NATs for… Onlus) for the progressive reduction of the phenomenon of forced recruitment of minors in the Colombian armed conflict;
- The remaining 45%, to support the project “School and family gardens: spread of agro-ecology in the Mayan communities Kiché di Totonicapán”, of the CDRO Association – Asociación de Cooperación para el Desarrollo Rural de Occidente (partner of Fratelli dell’Uomo Onlus) for the dissemination, among the rural communities of Guatemala, of agricultural production practices based on environmental sustainability and on the enhancement of local resources.
