Social Day 2017
The 11th edition of Social Day, held on Saturday 8 April, reconfirmed the success of the previous editions, further improving the results obtained. This year, in fact, on a national level, the students involved were about 9,000 in the provinces of Vicenza, Treviso, Padua, Verona, Trento, Lodi and Pisa, who collected 88,200 € entirely for the financing of 7 projects of development cooperation in Italy and in the world. As regards, specifically, the coordination of Padua and Treviso, almost 3,000 students and young people from informal groups participated and collected 18,192 euros. The projects chosen by the students, which will be financed with this year’s fundraising:
- Forzado Reclutamiento: Ya Basta! (Colombia) where the Creciendo Unidos foundation works to prevent the phenomenon of armed recruitment of minors in Cucuta, in the Norte de Santander department, 45% of the funds raised by the coordination will be allocated to them, for a total amount of 8,186.51 euros.
- Living together and living in the Woods (Bolivia) to allow sustainable tourism in the Tunari Park severely damaged by a fire, to which 45% of the funds raised by the Treviso-Padua coordination will be allocated; for a total amount of 8,186.51 euros.
Support to the Atria – Libera Terra cooperative (Italy) for the redevelopment of land confiscated from the mafia in the municipalities of Castelvetrano, Paceco and Partanna, to which 10% of the national fundraising will be allocated; for a total amount of 8,800 euros.
