Social Day 2019
At the 13th edition of Social Day, which took place on 13 April, over 8,000 young people participated nationwide. The funds raised have contributed to the realization of 7 projects around the world, which involve other young people in difficult situations! One project in Italy, three in Africa, two projects in South America and one project in Central America. From 2007 to 2019, 70,641 young people were involved.
Fundraising nationwide this year reached 83,800 euros. 1,847 organizations, companies and associations were involved in this collection together with the Kirikù Cooperative. The territories of four regions were involved; Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige, Lombardy, Tuscany and ten provinces by financing projects in Tanzania, Kenya, Cameroon, Colombia, Peru, Haiti and Italy.
Specifically, with regard to the coordination of Padua and Treviso, managed by the three organizations Kirikù, NATs per and FDU (Brothers of man), students and young people from informal groups collected € 15,137.57.
24% of these funds were raised with Kirikù, by young people from the Valdobbiadene institutes (147 participants, raised 1186.64 euros), Einaudi Scarpa di Montebelluna (34 participants, raised 580 euros), ISISS Verdi di Valdobbiadene (34 participants, raised 930 euros) and Liceo Veronese di Montebelluna (39 participants, raised 950 euros). The students have chosen three projects to which to allocate the funds:
- 10% to the Free-Cooperative project which gives new life to the land confiscated from the mafia, allocating it to the accompaniment and social integration of asylum seekers (project supported by the entire national network).
- 45% to the NATs project for Onlus, an association that works for the promotion of personal rights, with particular attention to minors;
- 45% to the Brothers of Man project aimed at strengthening the processes of democratic participation, concern the right to food, food sovereignty, the defense of the environment and common goods, the solidarity economy.
