SPORTS 4 ALL Project Reaches a Successful Final Phase

November 14 and 15 marked a critical milestone for the SPORTS 4 ALL project, culminating in a final event held in Italy at Casa Roncato in Montebelluna. The event brought together educators, journalists, public representatives, including the Sports Councilor of Montebelluna Municipality.

Launched in June 2022 and funded by community funds under the Erasmus+ Sport program, SPORTS 4 ALL is nearing completion after an 18-month journey. The project’s primary aim has been the promotion of social inclusion through sport, focusing particularly on young people experiencing educational poverty.

The heart of SPORTS 4 ALL is the “Sports4All method,” the result of collaboration among European partners who combined their expertise to forge an innovative approach to sport as a tool for social inclusion. The most significant outcome has been the development of a practical manual, rich with activities and advice, to facilitate the integration of young people with limited learning and growth opportunities in the sports context, providing concrete and applicable tools for coaches and sports clubs.

Cooperativa Kirikù, the project leader, contributed its pedagogical and educational expertise, enriched by nearly fifteen years of experience in projects focused on child protection, implementation of youth policies, and combating educational poverty. Contributions also came from InnvoVED, a Greek NGO specializing in innovative education and vocational training; Mar Violeta, an association dedicated to supporting people at risk of social exclusion; TPV Volley Novo Mesto, a Slovenian volleyball club; and ALDA, a French association promoting democratic participation at the local level.

The SPORTS 4 ALL method emerged from an analysis conducted through a questionnaire administered to a focus group of 15 teachers and 15 coaches from various European countries. This survey provided a clear picture of the challenges and needs of young people in educational poverty and the difficulties faced by educators and coaches in working with these youngsters. Based on these findings, Cooperativa Kirikù and InnvoVED laid the groundwork for the method, which was then developed and refined through collaboration with all partners and feedback from various sports clubs.

The testing phase of the method revealed positive outcomes: coaches perceived the method as highly beneficial, noting significant improvements in communication and integration among young athletes. This project has proven to be an extraordinary example of how sport can be a powerful tool for social inclusion and growth.
